Xerox Ireland unveiled its new Xerox 770 digital colour printing press to members of the Irish print industry at the Real Business Live event held at Xerox Ireland headquarters in Ballycoolin, Dublin on Tuesday 22nd November.
Xerox commented that the new press can help print providers increase monthly print volume by expanding into applications such as photo books, direct-mail pieces, marketing materials and calendars.
A key feature of the Xerox 770 Digital Colour Press is the Automated Colour Quality Suite, a set of tools that handle colour management tasks with minimal operator involvement. Of particular interest to printers is that the press also prints on a range of stocks, including heavyweight, at the rated speed of 71 pages per minute, something Xerox feel offers users a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Additional features of the Xerox 770 Digital Colour Press include:
- Inline finishing – including face-trimmed saddle-stitched booklets, catalogues, punched documents, tri-fold brochures and photo specialty products.
- Heavyweight stock capabilities – up to 300 gsm.
- Industry colour standards – allows the press to accurately match the designer‘s intent with optimal quality by achieving Fogra VPS certification. The press also uses the Adobe® PDF Print Engine 2 and is licensed for Pantone® Plus.
- Server options – meets the needs of specific print operations. Options for the Xerox 770 Digital Colour Press include Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server and EX Print Server powered by EFI Fiery.
- Scanning and copying – automatic duplex copying and scanning of 600 x 600 dpi and offers a variety of scanning options such as scan-to-file PDF and paper handling up to A3 size.
Norman McNelis, High Volume Colour specialist for Xerox Ireland who spoke at the event said:
“The Xerox 770 Digital Colour Press incorporates all of the engineering expertise and market understanding that Xerox has accumulated, helping thousands of printers build successful digital printing businesses. It’s a production colour press with outstanding image quality, productivity, reliability and versatility. It clocks in at 70 pages per minute – for all weights of coated and uncoated media (up to 300gsm) delivering faster turnaround on those high-quality, high-value jobs.”
McNelis also commented about the importance of the Xerox-unique Automated Colour Quality Suite of tools (ACQS).
“You can achieve consistent and accurate colour faster through automated colour management tools,” he said. “ACQS is available on all of Xerox’s Production Colour Presses. It will automate calibration and destination profile creation – replacing the previously long, manual tasks with faster, automated functions using Inline Spectrophotometer technology.”
With all this technology on board McNelis added that it can help printers capture a host of new applications efficiently and profitably as well as reduce turnaround times and costs.
