Katy Perry album coverKaty Perry is an artist who has, in the past four years, made a huge difference in the pop music industry, appearing on the scene in 2001 with her unsuccessful eponymous album Katy Hudson. Soon after that, she decided that the name “Katy Hudson” was too close to actress Kate Hudson and took on her mother’s maiden name, Perry.

Perry was brought up listening mostly to gospel music in an entirely Christian household and based her debut album around this genre. People soon began to notice her, but the album was not successful enough to place her in the charts. In 2008, Perry released her first hit in seven years, Ur So Gay. It gained media attention but did not chart. Her next single, I Kissed a Girl, was a different story. The song placed number one in over twelve countries, its controversial lyrics and unbelievably catchy beat grabbing the attention of the media. The second album released by Perry, One of the Boys, turned out to be more fruitful than previously predicted, with singles like Hot ‘n Cold, Waking Up In Vegas, and Thinking of You.

Two years later in 2010, Perry released the jaw-dropping album Teenage Dream. This third album would soon become more successful than its predecessor, its debut single California Gurls topping the charts. With more songs like Teenage Dream and E.T, it has turned out to be an all ‘round amazing album.
