Print’s not dead. How Hearst is using social to power-up its papers.

The Newspaper business is dead? Don’t tell that to Hearst. By Brett Lofgren | September 12, 2017 NewsWhip’s Global CRO Brett Lofgren discussed the future of “print” in an interview with President of Hearst Newspapers Digital Media, Robertson Barrett. In the age of digital, how are print papers adapting? In the journalism industry, we constantly hear that print is dead. What we need from you to help

deliver your message on DPNlive.com website.

DPNliveDPNlive

This section of the site is suitable for businesses that want to get their point across to others.  It could be new products, equipment, consumables, machinery, exhibitions to name but a few.  This promotional product is suitable for everyone within the supply chain both B2B and B2C.

DPNlive.com is seen by businesses and people in Ireland and the UK as well as mainland EU, USA and further afield because of our SEO strategies, emarketing, social media, etc.

The section is article based and the section will be headed with your business name on it. Being article based, it allows you to explain the point you want to get across without the limitation of a standard ad.  You can also include static images (JPGs), animated gifs (GIFs) and YouTube videos. There is no limit to how many you want to use, but please remember that it has to look presentable.  The price for the article includes one image or video.  More than one will incur upload and formatting charges at €75 per hour.

Please remember that your article has to be found.

While DPNlive is read by many thousands of people every week all across the world, it has to be promoted.  As part of our normal emarketing, SEO and newsletters, we will include it.  If you want it to receive extra attention, there will be an additional charge of €75 per hour.

We recommend that your article should be approx. 800 words long.  The specifications for the section are as follows:

  • Format:

    • Please supply the article in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).  Please cross check the wording and spelling because DPNlive cannot be responsible for your errors.
    • Please format the article exactly as you want it to appear.  This includes headings, colours, paragraphs, bullets, etc.  Please be aware of the importance of hard and soft returns and their difference.  E.g., this bullet point uses both hard and soft returns and sub bullets.  Only put a return at the end of a paragraph, not the end of a line as it appears on your screen.  The reason for this is because the width of the section that your article appears in is 680 pixels wide and your screen is most likely different.
    • We cannot give you the exact font you want unless we install it on our servers, which we can, for an extra charge.
    • Bullets:
If you want to use bullets, please supply them as bullet points and not symbols and tabs.
    • Copy and paste:
We will copy and paste into our control panel.  However, it doesn’t always C&P exactly as you have it.  An example of that is indenting and tabs.  This can create problems and may not appear exactly as you want it.
    • Tables:
If you want something to appear as if it was in a table, then create a table.  Do Not use tabs and extra spaces. They will not work within our site.  Create a table.
    • Images: Regarding images.
      • JPGs are best not JPEG.  Remember that it is your image; therefore please make sure you have the copyright to use it.  If not, we could be liable too.
      • Images can be logos, machines, products, people or anything you want.  So long as it is not illegal, ethically incorrect or pornographic.
      • Because images (JPGs and GIFs) represent your offering (a picture speaks a thousand words), please make sure it is crystal clear and a good resolution. Anything lower than 100 KB is not acceptable.  It damages your company and our website and we will not allow our site to be damaged.
      • Each Image has to be supplied as separate files.  Do not embed them in the article.
      • If you want images and videos to appear in an exact spot within your article, please tell us and we will endeavour to do it for you.  If you don’t tell us, we will use our skills to position them as best we can.  An example of that can be seen here.
      • Regarding videos.
        • Please make sure they are on YouTube.  We cannot install videos on our servers because they take up too much space.
        • Tell us what size you want the videos to appear within your article and where you want them to appear.  An example of videos is in our music articles.  For example, if you look at the Mark Knopfler article (click here), the videos on the first page are 350x270.  If you want a few videos (like the music articles that could have 30 videos in them), please state whether you want them in table format (example two columns) or one column.  If you want the video to fit the width of the article, then it can be 650x500 in size.  For example the Rory Gallagher article videos on pages 2, 3 and 4  are 500x375.
        • Give us the exact code from YouTube. You can get that by going to the YouTube video and highlighting the “share” button under it.  It will be highlighted in blue.  Copy that code and paste it in your article for us.
        • If you have more than one video, please supply them in a separate WORD file in the format above, e.g.

http://youtu.be/LGLcXIrk6S0

Sunshine superman

http://youtu.be/Q3tWkyYXcLc

Don on teaching guitar to beatles

http://youtu.be/QGzG2yhQwfQ

Season of the witch

  • Links:  These have to follow a very exact format otherwise they won’t appear.
    • Please make sure the site (landing page) you want a link to is actually working.  You would be amazed the number of times we have been given links to pages that don’t work.
    • Give us the EXACT URL including http://www.  An example is http://www.dpnlive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1337:ricoh-report-finds-education-sector-held-back&catid=69:irish&Itemid=182.  You can get that by going to the site in your browser, highlighting the full address in your address bar and copy it.  Then paste it in to your article.  It has to be exact.  A missing dot or dash means it won’t work.  We can put any wording you want within the article and create the link to it. An example of that is this sentence.
    • Rewrites and time:
      • If you want us to write or rewrite the article for you, we can do that. The cost of that is €75 per hour + expenses.  This will include the time researching as well as the actual time writing.  Expenses will include travel to interview people on your behalf.
      • This will also apply if the article is given to us outside of these specifications.
      • If we have to refer back and forth to different entities, e.g. a distributor in Ireland and a supplier in Germany, we will have to charge time.  We will, of course, be reasonable with this, e.g. differentiate between normal time on the job and extra time.
      • Photography.
If you want us to take photographs, we have no problem doing that for you.  The cost is €75 per hour + expenses.
