Canon Europe’s imageFORMULA P-215 has arrived. Billed as the fastest USB powered scanner for small or home office environments as well as professionals who work remotely, its new portable scanner is compatible with both Mac and PC operating systems. It also supports mobile working with the ability to scan directly to cloud-hosted applications such as GoogleDocs™, Evernote and SharePoint.
imageFORMULA P-215 FSL OPEN w PRINT SAMPLEThe imageFORMULA P-215 is powered by a single USB cable and can scan up to 15 pages per minute. It also captures both sides of a document in one single pass and incorporates an automatic document feeder capable of handling up to 20 sheets.
An interesting feature is that workers can use the P-215 instantly without having to install additional drivers or software thanks to its unique, built-in CaptureOnTouch Lite software. The P-215 also includes ISIS/TWAIN drivers for Windows users and a TWAIN driver for Mac users which Canon claims delivers industry-standard connectivity and use with a variety of imaging applications.
The P-215 incorporates a special card feeder slot for scanning thick plastic ID and embossed cards. Canon maintains that this makes it particularly useful for insurance and financial services industries where proof of ID is required when registering new client accounts.

Additional features include high-quality scanning to 600dpi and advanced image processing features such as auto page size detection, de-skew, auto text orientation and colour detection.
The new portable scanner also comes bundled with a variety of heavy-hitting software applications: CaptureOnTouch, for scanning to multiple file formats such as PDF, PDF/A, TIFF, JPEG and PowerPoint; PageManager (Mac) and PaperPort (PC) together with BizCard software, all designed to maintain efficient file management of digitalised documents.
