Ricoh awarded Fogra Cert Validation Printing System certification

Ricoh's award winning Pro C751Ricoh's award winning Pro C751Ricoh Ireland has just announced that the Ricoh Pro C651EX, Pro C751EX and Pro C751 have been awarded the international Fogra certification for meeting the ISO/DIS 12647-8 standard. This international standard confirms that all three digital colour presses will consistently deliver colour quality to rigorous ISO standards. Fogra is the leading research centre for the printing industry based in Munich, Germany and has developed all the characterisation sets for ISO 12647-8. The institute has a staff of 50 including engineers, chemists and physicists and is 40% funded by the German state.

Alan Mason, Managing Director, Ricoh Ireland commented:

"The Fogra International certification gives our customers confidence that the new Ricoh Pro C751 series will consistently deliver excellent colour, regardless of run length," he said. "Since launching the Pro C751 recently in Dublin, we are receiving a lot of interest in this solution from the Irish print industry. This certification is timely recognition of how we are helping print service providers to transform their businesses through digital printing; offering fast, efficient turnaround, delivering the variety of jobs their customers want, including booklets, direct mail, reports and books on demand."

The certification applies to the Ricoh Pro C651EX, Pro C751 EX and Pro C751, using the Fiery E-41A print server, and printing on Oris Pearl Digital 170g, and Tecco Laser MP 140 media. The stringent Fogra certification included testing of substrate colour and gloss, permanence and light fastness, short and long run repeatability and rub resistance.

The three Ricoh printers are the latest to join Ricoh's production printing portfolio of hardware, software and services. The company says that they are ideally suited to meet the needs of print-for-pay providers, digital and commercial printers, CRDs and print rooms. Ricoh also says that high image quality is achieved through new laser beam technology, 'VCSEL'(Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) as it delivers best-in-class output and resolution of 4800 dpi for precise reproduction and accurate registration is achieved by monitoring paper expansion and contraction during warming and cooling. Richoh maintains that with VCSEL technology they can ensure fine line text is clear and sharp and that new liquid cooling technology optimises developer temperature for improved productivity.

Ricoh will demonstrate its Business Driver Programme and the Ricoh Pro C651EX, Pro C751EX and Pro C751 series at drupa 2012, Dusseldorf, Germany next year.
