IIJ announces Euro Label Printers as first customer for new iS print engine.

John Bayley – lead times down from three days to as little as five hours with new systemJohn Bayley – lead times down from three days to as little as five hours with new systemIndustrial Inkjet Ltd (IIJ) has announced the first customer for its new ColourPrint and MonoPrint iS UV digital inkjet system.

UK based Euro Label Printers Ltd says it will cut production lead times from three days to as little as five hours through its investment in what it terms as a ‘pioneering’, compact, single-pass high speed UV digital inkjet print engine that next month will be fitted on to a Focus Label Machinery Ltd D-Flex print platform at the company’s headquarters in London.

“I thoroughly researched the market and, at one point, was going to be spending £750,000 on different inkjet equipment but this is a far better solution at a fraction of the price,” said Euro Label Printers Director John Bayley. “This high quality system will enable us to do everything we need and to service our customers in a very short lead time – as little as five hours in some cases – with a dramatic reduction in costs.

“Until now I have been spending £150,000 on waste stock and set-up as well as £50,000 on plates annually, but these costs will basically disappear with the new Focus Label Machinery D-Flex printer and IIJ ColourPrint 212iS hybrid system.”

The IIJ ColourPrint 142iS machine and software will be fitted on to the D-Flex system to offer personalisation and short-run capabilities, swapping between inkjet and flexo virtually at the touch of a button. Euro Label Printers is targeting a 20 per cent turnover jump in the first year by using the new system.

The IIJ Colour and MonoPrint iS range, which feature the latest printheads from Konica Minolta, run at speeds of up to 50 metres per minute in full colour printing or mono using 6 picolitre drop sizes, which is less than half the previous 14pl size, designed to provide a huge leap forward in print quality.

The flexibility of the iS systems  includes a custom-build service option for all the models – the MonoPrint 72, 142, 282 Slim and 352 Slim and Colour Print 72, 142, 282 and 352.

Print samples were shown in public for the first time on IIJ’s booth 3710 at Labelexpo Americas at the Donald E Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, Chicago, from 9-11 September, 2014.

Paddy O’Hara, Director of Technology for IIJ, said: “The feedback from customers such as Euro Label Printers who have been using the new systems on pilot projects has been extremely positive. Our print engines are designed to be easily integrated into any customer’s existing production line.”

IIJ, an independent company, is also the official sales and technical support centre for Konica Minolta products outside of Asia, offering advice on any aspect of the use of inkjet technology in industrial applications.
