Fiery® FS200 ProFiery® FS200 Pro

Drives CMYK+ colour capabilities and Faster Processing for Xerox iGen 5.

Two giants of the industry, EFI™ and Xerox®, have partnered to deliver the first digital print server featuring the new Fiery® FS200 Pro digital front end (DFE) platform, which will power Xerox's new iGen® 5 Press.

It’s designed to drive excellent quality and productivity on the iGen 5, and the Xerox EX-P 5 Print Server Powered by Fiery now features EFI Fiery HyperRIP. Fiery DFEs are powered by EFI's proprietary ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) with RIPChip™ technology that EFI maintain can process print files significantly faster than alternative DFEs. The new server boasts an expanded performance advantage with EFI's Fiery HyperRIP offering processing speeds up to 55 per cent compared to performance without HyperRIP.

Both companies say that now, Xerox iGen 5 users can print more jobs in the shortest possible time for maximum engine utilisation and performance using the server's new HyperRIP mode for parallel processing of up to four print jobs. Plus, the server's new Rush RIP mode opens up a fifth RIP to process rush jobs when all four main parallel processors are busy.

Xerox customers can use the Fiery server as a gateway to Xerox FreeFlow® Core and EFI solutions such as Fiery Central, EFI Digital StoreFront® eCommerce and Web-to-print software and EFI's portfolio of MIS/ERP workflow products. The server also integrates with Agfa :Apogee®, Kodak™ Prinergy™ and Heidelberg® Prinect® workflows for streamlined management of offset and digital production operations from a single software interface. "The new iGen 5 brings our customers gamut extension and colour matching capabilities together with the proven reliability and automation of the iGen platform. EFI's unique processing and automation technologies in the Xerox EX-P 5 Print Server strengthen this offering by providing Xerox customers unmatched end-to-end functionality and productivity," said Robert Stabler, senior vice president/general manager, Graphic Communications Business Group, Xerox.

EFI's new, optional Fiery CMYK+ extended gamut feature and EFI Command WorkStation® give users the ability to incorporate and seamlessly manage the addition of orange, green or blue Dry Inks as a fifth colour on the Xerox iGen 5 Press. Plus, proven Fiery Spot-On™ technology enhances users' colour matching experience, giving them the ability to quickly and more precisely reproduce brand colours not possible before using only CMYK.

The server comes standard with Fiery Impose-Compose for intuitive, visual document preparation, and Fiery Color Profiler Suite, a product that helps developed to ensure reliable, repeatable colour matching and consistency throughout print runs and across multiple digital presses. Fiery Graphic Arts Package, Premium Edition delivers new, enhanced functionality for CMYK+ that helps users identify and troubleshoot file issues to ensure their jobs print right the first time, every time.

Fiery Dynamic HD Text and Graphics produces that extra edge and text quality for all colour and saturation levels that helps differentiate text and graphics quality in a highly competitive marketplace. Users also benefit from support for the latest Adobe® PDF Print Engine, as well as for all industry-standard variable-data printing formats, including PPML, PDF/VT, Creo™ VPS and Xerox VIPP®.

"The collection of features offered with this new DFE, including CMYK+, robust workflow integration capabilities and HyperRIP performance, reflects our commitment to supporting Xerox customers as they adopt next-generation innovations that allow them to capture more profitable, successful, superior-quality digital print opportunities," said Toby Weiss, senior vice president and general manager, EFI Fiery.
