The software developer EFI has partnered with Ricoh to launch new Fiery technology that will allow customers to print directly from their smartphones and tablets to Ricoh’s new Aficio MFP printers. Built on the Fiery System 10e platform, with speeds two times faster than their predecessors, the new MFPs are designed to deliver fully finished documents more quickly than before.
“The latest Fiery technology combined with the Ricoh Aficio MFPs provides customers with exceptional colour printing,” said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing, EFI. “This launch builds upon the outstanding Fiery colour quality and ease of use while adding some unique tools that increase productivity in office environments, including the Fiery VUE visual print application and direct Wi-Fi printing for Apple device users.”
Specifically, EFI has launched Fiery E-5300 driving Ricoh Aficio MP C4502/C4502A/C5502/C5502A and Fiery E-3300 driving Ricoh Aficio MP C3002/C3502.
EFI said that producing more professional-looking documents in-house has been made easier with the Fiery VUE visual print application – its intuitive interface allows users to make instant changes to the document and view a live 3D preview of the finished piece. It pointed out that integration and support of all available Ricoh Aficio finishing devices would enhance print output options and further simplify the creation of more complex documents such as booklets.
The demand for mobile to print has driven this technology. The Fiery system provides a built-in mobile print option for no additional cost, enabling users to print directly via Wi-Fi from their iPad, iPhone and iPod touch applications to the Ricoh Aficio printers. The Fiery software automatically discovers the printer and presents users with print options for fast and easy printing.
Spot colour reproduction is an option built-in to the Fiery system. Fiery Spot-On software enables any user to match PANTONE colours or any other specialty colour to ensure corporate colours are consistent and accurate every time.
A new feature of Fiery System 10e allows IT administrators to configure the most commonly used print job settings once and then publish them via the Fiery Driver to users - eliminating the need to select print options every time and encouraging adherence to corporate printing policies such as duplex printing.
The package includes features such as Image Enhance Visual Editor for on-the-fly per image correction and Fiery Hot Folders to automate document preparation. EFI said that these tools help users produce high-end colour documents and print them faster with less waste.
