The WisdomTree ETF is tracking the ISEQ 20® index which is a benchmark stock market indicator comprising 20 of the most liquid and largest companies on the ISE. The ISEQ 20® index performance has shown very strong growth over the past 3 years and has risen 21.8% so far in 2015.
WisdomTree has more than $58bn in AUM globally. It listed its first UCITS ETFs in Europe on the ISE in October 2014.
Hector McNeil, Co-CEO of WisdomTree Europe at the launch said:
“The ISEQ 20® ETF is a unique product on the Irish market providing both Irish and international investors with an opportunity for exposure to a fund tracking 20 leading ISE quoted Irish companies. This is the only ETF of its kind listed within Europe. WisdomTree Europe sees great potential in merging the funds and making an attractive product available to a wider investor pool. The new WisdomTree ISEQ 20® UCITS ETF should provide additional benefits to investors including greater liquidity as the ISEQ will now be available through more than 20 asset providers and market makers while being managed by the world’s sixth largest ETF provider.”
Brian Healy, Director of Traded Markets, Development, Operations at the ISE, welcoming the new ETF to the market added:
“This is great news for investors and Irish issuers. WisdomTree is a very innovative and highly rated international player and is the world’s sixth largest ETF issuer. We are delighted to be able to facilitate their continued European growth while benefitting all participants in the Irish equity market. Their knowledge, experience and distribution network will provide enhanced opportunities for sourcing international investment in Irish listed companies. For investors, the ISEQ 20® ETF is a really low cost security, with a total expense ratio of 0.49%, which facilitates a new avenue for purchasing a diversified portfolio of the leading Irish shares in one trade.”
Viktor Nossek, Director of Research at WisdomTree Europe speaking about international interest in Ireland’s economy said:
“Investor sentiment in Irish equities is upbeat, with the ISEQ 20® - the Irish equity benchmark having tripled its value since 2009.
With Ireland’s domestic demand rebounding, its exports strengthening and its banking sector restructured, the foundations have been laid for the ISEQ 20® to benefit from broad-based support of industrial, consumer and financial stocks and potentially sustain the strong performance longer term.”
