News just announced by the government that it will implement a loan guarantee scheme for small businesses by early in the New Year has been wildly welcomed by the SFA chairman Ian Martin.

The scheme is a critical demand by the small business sector who has also stressed that all the recommendations made by the advisory group on small business in Ireland be implemented as well.

The implementation date however is still unsure in part due to the large volume of legislation that has to pass through the Dail this session, primarily due to the requirements of the bailout.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said that SME owner –managers have demonstrated time and again that if the Government creates the right economic conditions, they will invest.

The recommendations of the advisory group chaired by Junior Minster for Small Business John Perry hopes to publish its report “very shortly.”
